Japanese Fast Food – There Is Nothing Like It
The Japanese are some of the busiest and healthiest people in the word. Japanese fast food is some of the healthiest in the world as well. Unlike most of the world, the Japanese take health seriously. They understand that healthy employees and students mean that more work is accomplished and fewer mistakes are made.
As a result, while there are McDonalds and other western fast food places, most Japanese fast food is simple traditional dishes. You can by bentos or lunch boxes that contain rice, vegetables and other simple dishes at convenience stores, roadside shops, and small food stalls that offer simple quick dishes that provide the nutrition and healthy eating necessary to keep the body strong and the mind clear.
Some Dishes
Ramen is one of the staples of Japanese fast food. It can be purchased in stores just like in the Western world. There are other types as well; large bowls that contain a variety of ingredients that are sold in Noodle shops, or in stalls that are located all over towns and cities. They provide a simple menu but it is perfect for that late night snack or a quick lunch or dinner break.
Rice Balls And Dumplings
Rice balls are another quick and easy Japanese fast food that you can make any time and it does not require a large amount of skill to make. You simple need some rice, Nori and a filling. Nori is a type of seaweed. It is used for sushi, but also for wrapping around rice balls. The filling can be anything you like. Use warm rice. You need to use your hands, so be careful about not using very hot rice. Make a rice ball, hallow out the center, add filling and mold. Then wrap in Nori and you are done.
Dumplings are also a Japanese fast food that is easy to make, once you get the hang of it. They are simply fried small circles of thin dough with filling added. Both of these are easy to make and make wonderful midnight snacks, or in some cases full meals.
There are a variety of other dishes that are quick and easy to make and also very healthy. The important thing about Japanese cooking is to remember to keep the flavors light and the ingredients as fresh as possible. The Japanese subscribe to this and even their convenience store snacks are kept as fresh as possible.
