There are very few of us who can resist the smell of barbecue coming from an outdoor grill, especially if the grill is coming from our own backyard. Add the pool, the margaritas and soft jazz in the background and life is very good indeed. What makes this scene even better is if the scent is coming from a brick BBQ that you have built for yourself. Brick BBQ’s are a beautiful addition to anyone’s back yard and it is a home project that is attainable and gives you a sense of accomplishment when it is completed.

Location and Preparation

The first thing you must do after you have decided to build your own brick BBQ is decide where to put it. It is smart to have your barbecue close to the house since you will be carrying food and utensils from within the house out to it. Normally, we all forget a few things when barbecuing so you know you will have to make extra trips into the kitchen and very soon those trips inside and back out are going to get very long.

Try and figure out which way the wind normally blows so you don’t pick a spot where the chef is going to get smoke directly into his face or into the house. You will also want to keep your brick BBQ away from fences, buildings and overhanging trees. Always keep your barbecue on relatively level ground. A good base for your brick BBQ would be large pavers that are laid on a bed of sand or you can dig a pit and install a wooden form along the inside of the hole and then pour concrete. This is the best base for a new brick BBQ.

Design

Your next step is to design your brick BBQ. Be sure your BBQ is at a comfortable height and the firebox is only a few inches below. You will also want to include one or two shelves so you can keep your grilling paraphernalia close at hand when cooking. You can make your BBQ as fancy as you want, but the most beautiful and most useful brick BBQ grills are the most simple ones. You don’t want anything to stand in the way of good flavor, not even good looks.

It might be a great idea to check with the local BBQ store to see if they have any pre-made brick BBQ plans that you can purchase. If you follow the directions to one these plans explicitly you will undoubtedly have a beautiful and very useful brick BBQ. It doesn’t take long to construct a BBQ but the time goes much faster if you decide to make it a party affair. Of course, start and finish the project before the case of beer is opened and perhaps you will be cooking dinner on it before the stars come out. Brick BBQ’s are fun home projects and if you are handy at home and enjoy grilling it might be a project that you might really enjoy undertaking.

Some people just cannot leave home without their special BBQ recipe. But if you are traveling somewhere that you can’t cook your BBQ, what will you do? The simple and easiest choice for your BBQ fix is to find a BBQ concession trailer.

These will usually be located at local fairs and other summer events. But if you have a great BBQ recipe of your own, why don’t you share it with the world? You can make a lot of money and travel to many places with BBQ trailers.

The Great Road Trip

Buying BBQ trailers might be a serious decision to make, but if you are true to the art of BBQ, you will never be able to keep up with the demand for your special recipes from your BBQ trailers. Not only can you make a good amount of money from selling food out of BBQ trailers, you can also get to see the country.

You can travel around all over your state and beyond getting jobs at fairs festivals, and other community gatherings. BBQ trailers are made special to accommodate and serious BBQ cook. The equipment inside and out is top notch. You won’t find another kind of concession trailer built better than BBQ trailers.

BBQ trailers are a serious investment, so make sure you weigh the pros and cons before you make your purchase. It the long run, it will most likely be a successful summer business for you. It can be a yearlong business for you if you live in a warm climate.

But if you are not prepared before you go out on your first job, you may run into some problems. If you know the type of event you will be working, make sure you can get an idea of how many people will show up. It’s not realistic to think that everyone will want food from you, but it is better to be prepared than be caught off guard.

Make sure you have enough preparations to serve at least eighty percent of the total expected crowd. This way, you are sure to have at least enough for the people who want it, and maybe more.

If you are caught without enough food for most people, the crowd will get frustrated and if the same people see you at the next event, they may just avoid you because the know you will run out of food before they ever get to the front of the line. BBQ trailers are a great investment. If you are ready to share your BBQ with the world, go ahead!

The most important tool for any expert BBQ cook is that BBQ skewers. Nearly any recipe can be made with BBQ skewers. BBQ skewers come in handy when you want to cook items such as vegetables, seafood, and small pieces of meat on your grill. These foods can get messy and fall apart without the use of BBQ skewers. It is good for any BBQ cook to invest in a great set of BBQ skewers. They come in a variety of sizes and shapes.

Finding the Right Skewers

BBQ skewers run the gamut: you can get simple wood ones or you can spend a little extra and get a set of skewers that will last through years of cooking on the grill. If you love to enjoy a lot of skewer dishes, your best bet would be to invest in a set of stainless steel BBQ skewers.

These are available at most retailers that sell grills and kitchenware. They are prices anywhere from a few dollars up to around fifty dollars, depending on the quality you are seeking. If you grill a lot, it is better to make the initial investment now so that you will have a set of BBQ skewers that will last throughout many summers of backyard grilling for lunch and dinner.

Chipotle Shrimp Recipe for Skewers

Here is the type of recipe that calls for BBQ skewers: Chipotle BBQ shrimp skewers. This recipe is made from large shrimp, butter, BBQ sauce (whatever type you love best), chipotle peppers, garlic, and lime juice. Sound good? Let’s get started.

To make the skewers, first you need to mix all the ingredients together and create a marinade. Then you need to prepare the shrimp by peeling and de-veining the shrimp. Then once they are prepared, the shrimp will go directly into the marinade for at least thirty minutes in the refrigerator. The longer you keep it in the marinade though, the richer the flavor will be, so it is up to you how long you keep it in there. Overnight will get the best flavor.

Once you are ready to cook, thread the shrimp onto the BBQ skewers. You will need to grill the skewers for about four minutes on each side. Serve the shrimp with grilled pineapple and you will have a great summer meal to enjoy with the whole family.

Sure, the grill is important – without it, barbecuing would not exist. But when it comes to perfectionist grilling, the hobby of many suburban men and women, there are other essential pieces of equipment. Even the grills themselves are available in a range of sizes and accessories – some are fueled by propane while others rely on the traditional fuels of wood and charcoal.

However, some of the most important weapons for any griller are stainless steel BBQ tools. Barbecuing is no longer just about throwing a few slabs of meat on the grill—now it is an art form. Almost any dish can be prepared on a grill, almost any food group, but cooking with such precession is not possible without the proper equipment. Stainless steel BBQ tools are the epitome of style, function and precision, and they can make any griller’s dreams come true, and keep his or her family salivating at the thought of dinner.

Cooking with Science and Art

Stainless steel BBQ tools are some of the best BBQ tools available on the market. Stainless steel itself is coveted for utensils of any kind, especially for a barbecue. Grilling outdoors is not always under sunny skies – sometimes it rains, and sometimes it snows, as barbecuing is not reserved for summertime.

Even for grills on porches or in enclosed areas, moisture is still a problem, both from the food and cooking itself and during washing. Stainless steel does not rust, and it stands up to the natural environment better than any other kind of metal. Stainless steel BBQ tools usually come in sets, ranging from three pieces to over twenty. Tongs, forks and knives and the staple tools, but some sets include corncob holders, skewers and even brushes.

Stainless steel BBQ tools also come in a variety of styles. Some have wooden handles, while others have rubber handles for better grips. The sizes vary according to the needs of the griller – smaller tools are better for smaller hands, but tools with longer handles may be necessary for larger grills so the griller stays protected from the flames.

Wooden handles can be plain or fancy, carved or smooth, and the finishes vary from light to dark. The tools can even be chosen to match the rest of the grill, especially if it is a large unit with wooden accents. Some stainless steel BBQ tools are steel all the way through, but the risk with these tools as that the handles may heat up from the flames.

There are a great number of different models to choose from, and each has a variety of options you can add. The following is a brief guide to some of the different BBQ sets you can buy.

Things to Consider

Obviously, the most important thing to consider is how you are going to use your BBQ set. You’ll need to decide if you will only be using it at home, or if you are going to be taking it to the beach or camping, or on various other outdoor activities. If you will only be using it at home, you can purchase on of the larger, more elaborate BBQ sets. These can be very basic, or they can have various add-ons that make your grilling experience that much more convenient. In addition to the basic grilling area, you can also have side burners and many more options as well.

You also have some options as far as how you hook up your BBQ set. You can use the standard tank under the unit, as many people do, or you can actually run a gas line to the area that the grill will be and hook it into the natural gas supply of your house. This is a great idea if you are planning to build in your grill as part of a patio or other permanent structure.

Other people opt for a charcoal BBQ set. Many people prefer the taste produced by cooking your food over charcoal. It often produces a smoky flavor that many people enjoy. Others do not like this style because they say the food tastes like lighter fluid.

There are also many portable units available for those that will be taking their BBQ set on the road with them. These units are designed to be lightweight and easy to pack to make them convenient for travel. They are also designed to be very easy to clean so you don’t have to spend your day scrubbing and scouring while your family is enjoying their day.

Basically, the type of BBQ set you choose will depend largely on your personal preferences, as well as other factors. These include the size of your family and your budget. What ever your plans are, there’s no doubt you will be able to find the right model to fit you and your family’s needs.

Unlike steak or hamburger, perfect ribs are hard to achieve on the home grill. Hard but not impossible, with the right tips and tricks you too can have the perfect BBQ ribs. When you think about it, BBQ ribs shouldn’t be at all impossible.

After all barbeque is essentially a process of slowly roasting meat and this should give you tender meat that falls off the bone while still delicious and meaty tasting. These tips will give you the best ways to get perfect ribs so that you can always be assured of satisfied guests and the pride of knowing you made something that good.

Never Boil

Some people will tell you to boil your ribs before you barbeque them. The logic being that boiling will give you tender BBQ ribs later on. It is true that boiling will produce tender meat but it will not give you the best tasting ribs. That’s because all the flavor is floating in the water you boiled the ribs in. That’s right, boiling ribs will steal all the yummy flavor out of your ribs. Something you want to avoid.

Control the Heat

It is often tempting to cook your BBQ ribs on high heat so that they will be done quickly. This is a fast route to having dry and tough ribs. To have the best BBQ ribs you need a low heat for a long period of time. To get your ribs done perfectly start on them before your guests get there. This way everyone’s not waiting around for you to finish cooking the ribs. Keep the temperature between 250 and 300, no higher and no lower.

Marinade

For optimum flavoring you need to start marinating the night before. Before you slap on your famous marinade you need to peel off the silver skin that clings to the underside of your ribs. This is a membrane that will prevent any flavoring getting into the meat.

So no matter how delicious the marinade is your ribs will be quite tasteless if this is left in place. Cut off the silver lining without taking off any meat and the marinade. Leave in the fridge overnight to allow the ribs to soak up the ribs nicely.

Smoky Goodness

BBQ ribs taste best when they have been cooked with lots of smoke and as little contact with direct heat as possible. Use a gas BBQ grill with wood chips and you will get amazing ribs. Whatever way you use to duplicate this effect will work fine.

In the United States, where the land is vast and continuous, many people have opted to bring their homes along with them in the form of trailers. These trailers can either be their real home (for those who are always on the move), or perhaps be a small part of the homes they have gotten used to in their original place.

Many of these trailers have limited home functionality since they do not have a direct static connection with electricity or water supply unless they settle in a place long enough. These trailers may have limited space for cooking in their relatively small mobile homes, let alone the chance of actually burning the flammable material of their trailers.

A solution to this is to create a cooking area outside the trailers and be part of the trailer pack. BBQ grills on a trailer are not unusual since these are very portable in this manner and can be easily mounted with wheels to trail along as well. Quite big to be considered as a personal portable device, the BBQ grills on a trailer fits perfectly at the back of the trailer home, readily accessed for cooking during stopovers.

Outdoor BBQ Anytime, Anywhere

Even with simple cooking methods can be done inside the trailer itself, grilling is another concern, especially with the amount of smoke produced. Of course no one wants to have his trailer fully clouded with BBQ smoke. BBQ grills on a trailer are an external add-on to a trailer commodity.

BBQ grills on a trailer may somehow be portable in design, but are definitely constructed with a single thing in mind: Integrity. The construction designs of these commercial BBQ grills are used with high grade materials to withstand constant mobility and travel. Of course, design and commercial value makes these BBQ grills on a trailer quite expensive.

BBQ grills on a trailer may also be constructed with existing grills mounted on wheels, and added with protective cover for traveling, but these usually don’t last that long. Makeshift types of BBQ grills on a trailer may not only look out of synch with the overall design and theme of the trailer itself, it may pose even as a road hazard for other travelers as it may cause accidents should these BBQ grills on a trailer suddenly decide to fall apart. With cheap and relatively easier methods of acquiring this trailer add-on comes a higher risk of danger to the owners of these BBQ grills on a trailer and to others.

Many times, a name can be misleading. For example – rocky mountain oysters are as far from seafood as they are from the ocean. In fact, many foods are rather misnamed, and these misnomers can confuse customers into ordering something they may not really like. This happens a lot with foods labeled as barbecue.

Barbecue itself usually refers to a grill, but sometimes it can refer to a type of sauce. This sauce, smothered on anything, anytime, can transform any food into barbecue, even though it may never have touched the surface of a grill. On the other hand, the New Orleans-style barbecue shrimp is actually baked, not grilled – a barbecue has nothing to do with it. In a similar vein, Mongolian BBQ, an increasingly-popular style of cooking, is as far from barbecue as possible, but quite tasty.

A Confusing Choice

Mongolian BBQ is a style of cooking often found in restaurants. Meats and vegetables are stir-fried on a large iron griddle, cooked at temperatures as high as 300 degrees Celsius. Originating from Taiwan, the style of cooking is neither Mongolian nor barbecue, and is, in many ways, a completely unique, but misnamed, cooking style.

New to the restaurant world, Mongolian BBQ first appeared in Taiwan near the end of the 20th century. The stir-frying style is meant to evoke the spirit and technique of Mongolian cuisine, but it more closely resembles traditional Japanese cooking. Many restaurants, however, have perpetuated the myth of the Mongolian BBQ, claiming that the soldiers of the Mongol Empire prepared food with their swords and cooked them on their shields, overturned and placed over a large fire.

In a restaurant setting, diners choose their Mongolian BBQ ingredients from a buffet – a large collection of thinly-sliced meats and vegetables. They then bring their ingredients in a bowl or on a plate to the griddle cook, and can ask for any number of special sauces and seasonings. Each bowl of food is stir-fried on a different part of the griddle, and when the meal is finished, it is returned to the bowl and returned to the diner.

Mongolian BBQ restaurants are popular throughout Taiwan. In the United States, this style of cooking is usually found at Chinese buffet restaurants – however, some restaurants specialize in Mongolian BBQ, preferring it over traditional Chinese offerings. Some restaurant chains have even spread throughout Europe and into the Middle East, spreading this misnamed style of cooking from one side of the globe to the other.

Sure, there is some science involved in concocting sauces, and a lot of mathematics involved in calculating temperatures, but for the most part, there is no one right way of grilling – the finished product is a result of the character of the griller. But there are a few essentials tools for every grilling experience – for example, a grill.

However, the nature of the grill itself, and specifics of the other pieces of BBQ equipment, is left up to the griller. A dedicated griller will probably have a complete arsenal of tools and tricks, while the typical backyard griller will have a smaller, more self-contained grilling unit. But in the end, it is the destination, not the journey, that matters, and if the end result is good-tasting food, then all BBQ equipment is useful.

Creating Perfection

The most essential piece of BBQ equipment is the grill itself. Grills can come in any number of sizes, from small one-layered porch grills to huge, multi-tiered grills with warming trays and specific areas for smoking and marinating. The size of the grill depends on the needs of the griller—a griller who is hoping simply to grill up hamburgers and hot dogs probably does not need to spend the thousands of dollars required for some of the more complicated grills.

But if grilling is a man or woman’s life, then the investment in high-end BBQ equipment may be worthwhile to further a hobby and a dream. Grills also differ by the fuel used. Some burn wood or charcoal, while others are connected to natural gas or propane tanks. While some grills allow the griller to switch between fuels, some do not offer this option. The ability to grill over wood is essential for achieving certain flavors or scents, such as hickory, mesquite or cherry, or over charcoal for that famous smoky taste.

There are numerous other pieces of BBQ equipment that allow the griller to try other grilling techniques, or make the job easier. Chimney starters help to create a good charcoal fire cheaply and efficiently, and without the use of starter chemicals. Smokers can be used with grills to obtain a true smoked flavor. The meat is cooked in a box of wood chips that sits over the grill fire, cooking the meat slowly and infusing it with flavors from all sides. Other popular BBQ equipment includes forks, knives, tongs, brushes and other utensils used to protect the griller from the flames while he or she manipulates the meat.

Grilling isn’t just for summer celebrations anymore. No matter what your culinary preferences — from traditional mega-cookouts at the park to health-conscious quick meals–grilling has something delicious to offer for everyone.

More than 75 percent of Americans say they own at least one grill, with an increasing number of households boasting two, according to Joanne Hayes, a nationally recognized magazine food editor, TV recipe developer and food historian. Enthusiasm for the traditional warm-weather cookout has carried over into booming popularity for indoor built-in and portable-countertop grilling units, as well as simple in-oven grilling and rotisserie techniques. Grilling has become a popular option even for those who cook one-person meals or have living arrangements that don’t lend themselves to outdoor grilling.

In response to this trend, new varieties of seasonings, rubs and marinades have arrived on store shelves, adding convenience, versatility, no-mess food preparation and robust flavors to grilled dishes. Many seasonings can be rubbed on prior to cooking or shaken on over the grill — adding succulent flavor in mere minutes, or even seconds, of preparation time.

For cooks who like the deep, locked-in flavor of marinades, Grilling Seasons marinade mixes from Simply Organic require just 30 minutes of “flavor-absorption” time while the rest of the meal preparation is under way. Organic flavor selections include Lemon Pepper, Zesty Herb, Steak, Mesquite Barbeque, and Garlic Herb.

Organic grilling? Hayes points out that consumers are pickier about the meat, fish and poultry they’re selecting for the main course, often looking for “free-range,” “grass-fed,” “wild-caught” and “organic” items for the first time. Overall, organic meat, poultry and seafood sales grew 32 percent last year. More health-conscious consumers are choosing meatless and vegetarian options, too — and they’re not about to be left out of the grilling experience.

The experts at Simply Organic Grilling Seasons offer this recipe to add to any summer barbeque repertoire:

Barbecue Bell Pepper Spread/Dip

3 cups finely diced red and yellow bell peppers (one large pepper of each color)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese
2 packages Grilling Seasons Mesquite Barbecue Marinade Mix
Crackers or chips of your choice

Directions: Place a sheet of foil on grill. Brush with oil and add peppers. Grill for five to 10 minutes, until peppers start to turn golden brown. While peppers are grilling, place cream cheese in a large bowl. When peppers are ready, pour grilled peppers (no need to cool) over cream cheese and add the Mesquite BBQ Marinade Mix. Stir until completely blended. Serve warm or chilled with crackers or chips. (Makes 8 servings)

BBQ stains can be quite tough on your clothes. If you don’t want to ruin your favorite t-shirt, you better wear a BBQ apron when cooking barbecue in your backyard. No, you do not need one of those expensive leather BBQ aprons to protect your clothes from stains. A nice BBQ apron that is made of cheaper materials like vinyl and other types of non-stick materials will do just fine.

When buying BBQ apron choose those mid length types that covers your body up to your upper chest and are long enough to cover most of your thighs. If possible choose a BBQ apron that reaches just below your knees to protect your pants or skirt. Forget about those fashionable aprons that hardly protects your clothes. Remember that you are cooking barbeque here so you need to be well prepared to protect your clothes from ugly stains.

Another thing that you need to consider when buying BBQ apron is color. As much as possible, choose dark colored aprons when cooking barbecue. Dark colors are really good at hiding ugly barbeque stains so you need not worry too much about splashing some barbeque sauce on your apron while turning the meat on the grill.

Yes, wearing those nice white aprons when cooking is good and it makes you look really clean but the thing is, BBQ stains can be really tough on light colored materials. Your white apron will not really look so nice if there are some red stains on it. Besides, removing stains from white materials can be really difficult. Once you stain your white apron with BBQ marinade or sauce, your white apron will never look the same again.

Cleaning Your BBQ Apron

If you use apron that is made of cloth, soak your apron in warm soapy water after using. Warm soapy water will help loosen up the stubborn dirt on your BBQ apron. Soak the apron for a few hours and then gently scrub off the dirt and stain from the apron using a soft brush. For hard to remove stains, use some stain removing ingredients.

Dry the apron after washing and then store in a safe place. On the other hand, if you use a BBQ apron that is made of non-stick materials, just use a wet piece of clothe and then wipe the apron after using. You may also use soap to remove the grease from the apron. After cleaning the apron, hung it to dry.

Current economic constraints may prevent us from splurging on lobster, rib-eyes and other upscale delicacies with any regularity this season, but there are ways to maximize cooking pleasure no matter what foods find their way to the hot coals.

The first is to use every opportunity to add flavor, which can start with your choice of fuel. Charcoal has always been king when it comes to turning out tasty treats, and these days, there is a charcoal grill for every backyard and for every cooking need. The Kingsford line includes the traditional kettle shape in a 14-inch tabletop model, as well as in a 26-inch “big-daddy” size, which is perfect for those with bigger families and those who like to entertain with tongs. There is also an 18.5-inch and a 22.5-inch size.

For those who really want to go for the gusto and prefer the lower and slower method of cooking for a crowd, consider a grande-size charcoal barrel grill. Masterbuilt makes a barrel grill in four sizes that has an optional side firebox, so it becomes easy to add a layer of smoke flavoring simply by adding a mesquite or hickory log to the coals.

Another way to ensure success is to choose foods that are appropriate for the grill. Smaller tabletop kettle grills are best for quick-cooking foods such as burgers, hot dogs, sausages, sliced veggies and even small seafood pieces such as shrimp and scallops.

Larger kettle grills can be set up to cook over both indirect and direct heat, which expands the menu. Chicken pieces are perfect for preparing over indirect heat (prevents flare-ups) or bone-in pork chops can be seared over direct heat and then moved to the indirect side. While meats are finishing off, the rest of the meal can be prepared over direct heat. Mushrooms, asparagus, sliced zucchini, and tomato halves topped with parmesan cheese are all great-from-the-grill goodies.

A barrel grill obviously holds the most potential for taste bud tantalizing fare. Whole chickens, pork butts, briskets, racks of ribs, corn on the cob, baked potatoes and more, can comfortably fit on the generous cooking grid — especially if using the optional side firebox.
The third way to maximize your hot-coal encounter is to cook two or three meals at once.

Grill a large flank steak and a double helping of sliced zucchini and squash for dinner. You can then use the leftover steak as a luxurious addition to a lunchtime salad. Stack the chilled veggies on hearty focaccia bread and top with fresh mozzarella and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil for a hot summer night supper.

Fish fares well as a second or third meal too. Blackened tuna makes a good-enough-for-company dinner, and then a scrumptious next-day tuna salad sandwich. A generous portion of grilled shrimp makes a lovely dinner, a scrumptious lunchtime shrimp salad, and a tasty addition to a weeknight stir-fry.

Don’t forget that dying embers in a charcoal grill are perfect for making desserts. S’mores might be obvious, but also try sliced pineapple or other fruit — just brush with a bit of butter and heat on the hot grill grids. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

So get outside, fire up the charcoal grill, and take advantage of every last heated moment!

The history on BBQ starts back with the origin of the word. Whether you call it BBQ, barbecue, or barbeque, it all came from the same place. Many etymologists believe that the history on BBQ starts with the Caribbean word barabicu. This word roughly translates in English to sacred fire pit. The modern definition of BBQ is either the type of meal that is being served, or the grill on which it is cooked.

Origins

The history on BBQ seems to begin in the area of the Caribbean. This is where the origin of the word began, and then it was carried over to Spanish. Once in the Spanish language, it spread throughout Europe finding a place in the French and English language.

A myth about the history on BBQ comes from a story that is told about old roadhouses. These roadhouses used to advertise “Bar, Beer, and Cues” to refer to pool. It might be true that the roadhouses advertised in this way, but there is no evidence that this is how the food got its name.

The Real History

Cooking meat the way that constitutes BBQ had been going on since the dawn of man. Once people began eating animals like pigs, cows, and chickens, people have been roasting, baking, and grilling them over open fire. The history on BBQ starts back all the way before gas grills were even invented.

The food style, however, received origins later on, around the seventeenth century. This type of cooking was believed to have originated in North Carolina. BBQ became a staple of the a soldier’s diet during the Civil War era. Whole towns would get together to BBQ a pig or two to share with the soldiers and townsfolk. This is where the tradition of southern BBQ was born.

The Sauce

No one is quite sure where the origins of BBQ sauce cam from. The history on BBQ is less than telling on this aspect of the BBQ cooking style. It might have come from the curing process before the invention of refrigeration. Most curing processes used vinegar, but in the area of South Carolina, people would also add mustard and other spices in order to better flavor the meat.

No matter what kind of BBQ you enjoy, it is always fun and interesting to know where your style of cooking has come from. Whether you are southern, northern, eastern, or western, BBQ is one food that anyone in America can appreciate and enjoy.

But many people have no idea what the big deal is about woodchips. Wood Smoking Chips or BBQ woodchips are available in a wide variety of flavors. They go from mesquite and hickory all the way to Cabernet.

Tomorrow there will most definitely be at least twenty more flavors of BBQ woodchips. Wood smoking chips take your grilling to a whole new level. They can be used not only in a smoker, but on a gas or charcoal grill, as well. There are special smoker boxes that can be placed in your gas and charcoal grills to add real wood smoke flavor to your meats. There is nothing better then BBQ meat that has been cooked or smoked with BBQ woodchips.

Flavors

When using a small smoker in your grill you do not always have to soak your BBQ woodchips first. Soaked woodchips only allow your chips to burn longer. If you are cooking a steak you do not need your BBQ woodchips to burn for a long time. You must remember that barbecuing is all about the meat. If you do not have a good piece of meat, there is no woodchip made that will make your meat taste any better.

Make sure your meat or chicken is fresh and from a reputable butcher. The stores that sell the BBQ woodchips will have flavor guides to help you wade your way through the new age of woodchips. The lighter the meat type, the lighter the flavor woodchip you need to use. But it also doesn’t hurt to experiment and try mesquite with chicken, just begin with fewer woodchips then you would normally use.

The Alder woodchips should be used with seafood and pork. Alder is a mild flavored BBQ woodchip. The fruit woodchips are also mild and are best used with poultry, veal and pork. The fruit woods consist of apple, cherry and other fruit BBQ woodchips. Maple BBQ woodchips are a strong flavor and are best used with beef, pork and poultry.

Hickory is another strong woodchip and is best if used with beef, pork and poultry. Beef, duck and lamb are best if used with the strong mesquite woodchips and oak, another strong woodchip, is good with beef and ham. So the next time you decide on grilling a great piece of meat consider using one of these BBQ woodchips and see the great flavor that emits from your grill. Not only will that flavor come from your grill but it will also be cooked into your meat.

For many grillers, grilling is not a chore – it is a hobby, an obsession. It is time away from responsibility, the fresh air of the outdoors, the warmth of summer or the chill of winter, the setting sun or the afternoon heat. No matter the time, no matter the place, grilling is an escape from the mundane – it is more than cooking.

For these grillers, only the best equipment will suffice. The largest grills, the best smokers, the most aromatic wood chips and charcoal. There is never an unnecessary tool or an unwarranted technique. And for these grillers, a BBQ tools set is the perfect cherry on the sundae, the epitome of talent of style. The perfect present, the perfect reward and even the perfect self-appreciation, there is no griller who will not appreciate a BBQ tools set.

Finding the Best

There is a BBQ tools set for every griller, and for every occasion. These sets are not all the same, and attention must be paid to get the set that matches the needs and desires of the griller. While most barbecue tools can be purchased alone, there are numerous benefits to buying sets. For one, they often come in a nice case that both protects the tools from the elements and keeps them ordered and in constant reach.

Also, while sets include the essentials, such as forks, tongs, knives and brushes, they also contain some obscure tools that may not be readily found separately, but which can completely revolutionize a griller’s hobby. Also, a BBQ tools set will be styled and thematic- the handles, whether wood or rubber, will all match, and the designs of the tools themselves will be similar, creating the appearance of a griller who knows exactly what he or she is doing. Even barbecue tools should exhibit a sense of décor, and nothing says style better than a matching BBQ tools set.

The best BBQ tools set to purchase will probably be stainless steel. Stainless steel does not rust, and as much grilling is done outside, tools must be able to withstand the elements and any number of weather changes. Even the act of cooking produces a lot of moisture that can rust other kinds of metals, and washing the tools can also be dangerous to cheaper, less-sturdy tools. Stainless steel tools are also some of the most striking, and will often match the stainless steel of the grill itself. In the end, both function and style are important, and with a BBQ tools set, a griller can do almost anything, and look good while doing it.
